Record breaking statistics for Devon Air Ambulance

In 2024, Devon Air Ambulance responded to a total of 2457 missions across Devon and neighbouring counties. The charity thanks the local community for enabling it to continue its vital service.

The charity’s 2024’s mission statistics prove that a sudden, serious injury or incident can happen to anyone. Of the 2457 times the service was called, 1254 were attended by Helicopter, 1102 by Critical Care Car and 101 were attended to by the charity’s Volunteer Responder Scheme, an initiative whereby Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) dispatchers can draw upon off-duty highly skilled air ambulance clinicians to be the first responders to an emergency they are local to.

Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) crews helped 1403 patients suffering from medical emergencies last year, with the most common call out being for 1 of the 383 cardiac arrests. DAA crews were tasked to attend 1252 trauma related incidents, including 334 road traffic collisions, an. Of the 2457 total missions in 12 months, 12% were for children aged 0-17, and 27% were for patients over 70 years of age.
