Trade Waste Recycling update
Town Council complete liaison as 'broker' with contractors to replace North Devon Council when service ceases.
Published: 20 March 2026
Following the announcement by North Devon Council (NDC) they were no longer to collect Trade Waste Recycling, Lynton & Lynmouth Town Council arranged a local traders forum to come together and scope the way forward. As a result, the Town Council communicated with 10 contractors in the sector inviting them to provide a service for the Lyn Valley when NDC ceased provision.
Town Council acting as broker subsequently dealt with several contractors and discovered there were three main providers suitable to maintain the service in the area. These providers have already been in contact with 30 or more local businesses and arranged new good value contracts. They have reassured Town Council that Lyn Valley will not be overwhelmed with Refuse Lorries through the tourist season and also those narrow access areas will be serviced with suitable vehicles etc.
The three suppliers in no particular order are GWR, Biffa and Suez.
Local businesses are advised the contractors have to source new bins etc when they take over so do not delay and make your arrangements for when NDC cease service provision and avoid buildup of recyclable trade waste.
Town Council hope all have been able to benefit from this action and wish you all a busy and prosperous season.
